Sylvaneth Warsong Revenant

I'm preparing for a small 6 player AoS tournament this year so want to get all the newer Sylvaneth models in my list painted up... First up is the Warsong Rev.

Lovely model, pain in the arse to paint! hair and tentacles everywhere!

But let's go through the scheme and process.

Leafy cape

This was based with Castellan Green and airbrush highlighted with Loren Forest then Elysian Green. Airbrushed shaded with Caliban Green. Then shaded Beil-tan Green/Contrast Medium 50/50 mix trice. I then edge highlighted with Loren Forst and Orgyn Camo.

Legs

Baed coated Rhinox Hide, shaded with Wyldwood/Contrast Medium mix and highlighted Doombull Brown and Karak Stone.

Spirit Skin/Horn

This was base coated Grey seer and then applied a light layer of Plaguebearer flesh (not thinned with medium, just thinly applied). This was followed up with a thin layer of Iyanden Yellow. I then highlighted with Pallid Wych Flesh. This process is different to how I've done the spirit skin in the past and doesn't quite match... I'll try an amended process on the Gosamer Archers soon!

Bug eggs

Basecoated Grey Seer then applied Magos Purple/Contrast Medium mix all over. Then Magos Purple on the lower half of each egg. Highlighted up with Pallid Wych Flesh.

Green Bark

Basecoated Death World Forest shaded Agrax Earthshade and highlighted Loren Forest and Orgyn Camo.

Gold

Basecoated Fulgrim Copper, shaded Argax then highlighted Fulgrim Copper and Stormhost Silver.

Base Tentacles

Based Caliban Green then airbrush highlighted Warpstone Grow, Elysian Green and Screaming Skull.

Nurgles Rotters

My first project completed back at the beginning of 2021 was this Nurgle's Rotters Blood Bowl team.

I put a lot of effort into this team, following the Darren Lathams tutorial videos. Super happy with how they came out and whilst it was a bit of an effort to paint the 13 models altogether, it was well worth it.

Nerd Day 2021

In September we managed to hold the 4th 'Nerd Day' weekend. Some mate and I got together for a weekend and played a number of games. Here's some photos from the weekend:

2021 Review

Whilst I didn't make any blog posts last year I did manage some progress so here's a quick post to cover my hobby progress in 2021.

38 models. Not a great achievement really... but there's more to my hobby journey in 2021 than just that headline number.

First of all, during the first part of the year, I achieved one of my long term hobby goals and FINALLY finished my Nurgle's Rotters Blood Bowl team. I'm very happy with how they came out and will post about them soon. After that team though things went downhill a bit when I agreed to take up a 2nd commission. Essentially I found commission painting provided zero enjoyment so a mere 8 models took me about 5 months! Bad times.

After that I turned my attention to some quick, easy and fun Endless Spells to help me get my groove back... and it worked nicely! After those, I moved on to working on updating my AoS scenery collection. None of that work is detailed in the list but it took 3/4 months of effort and the results are great, again I'll post about this work soon!

The final thing I want to cover is the work I put into my 'new' Blood Angel army. This work started in September and I spent circa 80-100 hours airbrushing 90 odd models as a batch project. These models are now ready for me to home in and work on the squads individually.

Anyways, as I didn't post anything for about 18 months I've plenty of 'content' to post about so hopefully lots to come.

2020 Review

Most of my posts in 2020 were lined up before I made much hobby progress and then I didn't post anything on the blog once the pandemic hit. So this post is a bit of a cover all for what I managed to paint up in 2020.

Gloomspit Gitz

My first project of 2020, a Squig slow grow army. I didn't finish the army, and in the end sold them on eBay to raise funds. Overall, I bloody loved painting these models and I think they are some of, if not the best set of models/units I've managed.

The Dark Times... COVID Lockdown

During the first lockdown, I was out of work for a few months and turned my attention to gaming (whilst looking for work of course!). So, I spent time playing WoW and Albion Online instead of hobbying. However, I did start working on some bases for the 'new' Blood Angel models I've now started working on in 2022. Here's some pics of that early basing activity.

Commission Work

Towards the end of 2020, I was approached by a chap who'd bought some of my Blood Angels on eBay, wanting some of the new Indomitus box models painted up the same as the models he'd bought.

I ended up doing 2 sets of models, the first being 10 Assault Intercessors and a Chaplain. I don't seem to have any photos saved for the models other than this one below! Perhaps an indication of how much I enjoyed the experience :D
